CAREERS IN THE BOATING INDUSTRY
The Australian marine industry has some 2700 companies generating a $A5.5 billion turnover and employs 29,000 people. There is a thriving export industry of more than $A750 million annually. The industry is a diverse and exciting one, so if the idea of working with boats appeals to you, there is no end to the opportunities available.

Our industry values people with a wide range of backgrounds and diverse skills. In fact, the opportunities to develop your career are endless: from small craft construction to super yachts and beyond; from engines to sails; from boat building and fit out to repair and maintenance; from marine equipment to electronics; from sales and marketing to management; from marina services and management to marine tourism.

The Boating Industry Association of NSW has developed the NSW Marine Industry Careers Guide to help you identify the opportunities, education and training available and to help you select a career path that best suits your interests and abilities.

There is considerable satisfaction to be gained from the skills that you learn and apply in an environment working in and around boats of all sizes. In the marine industry work skills and lifestyle intermingle.
