Managing Occupational Health and Safety (2 day course)

The Boating Industry Association of NSW now offer a marine industry-specific training course called Managing Occupational Health and Safety.

This intensive 2-day course is designed for those who take prime responsibility for OH&S management in marine industry businesses and organisations. From clubs, boatyards and marinas to dealerships and workshops, from sailing-schools to boat-share operators, this course is for you.

Every business, large and small, has a responsibility to protect the well-being of its workers in a structured fashion. The laws that govern this responsibility and the documentation of compliance are complex, but effectively managing this situation is something that your business, even a sole-trader, must do.

Legal obligations aside, it is widely accepted that effective OH&S management is good for business;
• worker’s understanding of hazards in the workplace and applying the processes and methods to manage them, result in more effective and efficient people on the job;
• fewer injuries and less illness in your workforce results in less downtime, and hold down insurance premiums.

The bottom-line looks better, people are happier and healthier, your reputation in the community and as an employer improves. Everybody wins.

BIA’s Managing Occupational Health and Safety will give you an understanding of your obligations, and the tools and skills needed to keep your business on the right side of the law. The training material, exercises and templates will help you put in place effective plans, methods and practices to keep your people safe, and to document and demonstrate your OH&S management protocols.

A grouping of industry professionals also provides an opportunity to share experience, and most marine-business has been challenged by at least one unique OH&S situation. Work-shopping of “knocks taken”, lessons learned, and brilliant solutions to impossible problems, will be a key ingredient and benefit of these professional development courses.

Attendees will finish the course with the knowledge and practical ability to take charge of OH&S management in their marine-business workplace, and the BIA will issue a Certificate of Completion to graduates.

Managing Occupational Health and Safety will be offered close to marine-business hubs, in comfortable venues offering professional conference services. Professional trainers will facilitate courses of up to 15 people, ensuring that the training is interactive, specific, and relevant.
