Boating Industry Association

Structure of the Association

The BIA operates under the direction of a Board of Directors, made up of representatives from each of the participating States. Each State has a Council that is active in ensuring local matters are identified and resourced for the benefit of all members. State-based BIAs were established in the 1960s and 1970s.

Members are encouraged to contribute to the formation of BIA policies, identifying issues and solutions - with no issue too broad or too small.

Members meet in specific industry sector committees, including:

Boat builders
Houseboat hirers and tourism operators
Marina operators and associated industries
Marine brokers
Marine industry mechanical repairers
Sailing
Shipwrights
Trailer boat retailers

The BIA works in partnership with the Marina Industries Association and the Australian International Marine Export Group, plus international affiliations including membership of the International Council of Marine Industry Associations and the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers. This provides the organisation with the insight and intelligence on the global market, keeping the BIA and its members at the cutting edge of emerging trends and regulatory issues.
